Another declared foreigner arrested in Assam’s Jorhat, sent to detention camp

Another person, who was declared a foreigner several years back, has been sent to the detention camp after being arrested by border police of Assam’s Jorhat.

The arrested person has been identified as 40-year-old Rajijul Haque.

The border police arrested the man from the Netaji Nagar area of Rajamaidam at Jorhat on Monday night.

A border police source said Haque was declared a foreigner by the Foreigners’ Tribunal of Jorhat in 2006 but he had been absconding since then.

The source further claimed more than 5,000 people, who were declared foreigners by Foreigners’ Tribunal of Jorhat, have been absconding.

Haque had been residing at Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar district.

In June, two women, identified as Dolly Roy and Samiron  Bibi, were also sent to the detention camp of Jorhat after being declared foreigners by the Foreigners’ Tribunal.

While Dolly Roy had been residing in Barpeta district, Samiron Bibi had been residing at Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar district.
