Anomalies and corruption in the two-lane road construction between Jatinga and Haflong in the hill district of Dima Hasao in Assam has come to light.

Notably, the Centre has released Rs 25.48 crore for the construction of 7.46 km by-lane road from Jatinga to Haflong way back in 2011, but locals has alleged that even 30 per cent of the work has not been done in the last seven years.

The contract has been bagged by one Simplex Somdutta construction company and the fund has been released through the DoNER Ministry.

Though the locals and various organizations have been agitating for the speedy completion of the road, the concerned authorities or the government seem to be least concerned.

Recently, concerned citizens and organizatons met Assam PWD Minister Parimal Shuklabadya during his recent visit to Haflong and forwarded a memorandum regarding immediate completion of the two lane road from Jatinga to Haflong.

The locals as well as several organizations have demanded inquiry into the anomalies regarding construction of the road.

The minister has assured to institute a probe into the whole matter as the concerned company has withdrawn almost all the money but construction of the road is yet to be completed.
