Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) adviser Akhil Gogoi tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, sources claimed.
However, IGP (jail) Dasarath Das has denied the claims and said the peasant leader has not tested COVID-19 positive.
Speaking to Northeast Now, Das said, “Reports of the peasant leader testing COVID-19 positive is fake.”
“Akhil Gogoi has not tested positive for the virus. Media houses saying that he has been mistreated and has tested positive for the virus is fake,” Das said.
“We have been monitoring his health and a pool of doctors is looking after him,” he further said.
“One should not indulge in spreading fake news,” he further added.
“Only Bitu Sonowal and Dhairjya Konwar have tested COVID-19 positive,” he said.
It may be mentioned here that Sonowal and Konwar, who tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, were first admitted to the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) and then they were shifted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Thursday morning.
