The NIA court on Tuesday accepted the bail plea of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi.
The firebrand KMSS leader was arrested on December 12 last year from Jorhat.

Gogoi was arrested for ‘abetting, inciting hatred and causing disaffection towards the government’ during the anti-CAA protests in Assam in December last year.
Later, the NIA had charged him under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Subsequently, his workplace and residence were raided by NIA.

While protests for his release was staged across India, his mother, Priyada Gogoi, also staged an indefinite hunger strike since December 20.
His mother was forced to break her fast on December 22 due to deteriorating health condition.
The NIA court on Tuesday granted bail to Akhil Gogoi against an amount of Rs 30,000.
He was released as NIA could not file a charge-sheet within 90 days and sought additional time period, which the NIA court rejected.
