The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) vehemently refuted allegations of Higher Secondary question papers being leaked by Goalpara Science Academy.

However, the AHSEC authority has instituted a four-member committee to investigate the allegation of leak of question papers of three subjects including Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

The four-member committee comprises retired district sessions judge BC Das along with three other members from the faculty of Cotton University including Santanu Baishya from the Physics Department, Manjit Kumar Bhattacharya from Chemistry Department and Rajiv Bhattacharya from the Mathematics Department.

Speaking to Northeast Now, Jyoti Kalita, Controller of Examinations, AHSEC said, “I can assure that there has been no leakage of question papers. The schools were asked to prepare their questions from the textbooks and as there are four sets of question paper, lot of similarities have been seen in some papers. We have instituted a four-member committee which will investigate how so many similarities came up between the question papers set by the Council and the papers allegedly set by Goalpara Science Academy.”

Kalita admitted that there were incidents of question paper leak in the past. “In 2016, question papers of Physics and Biology were leaked. However, we are certain that there is no leak this time. We will know the cause of the similarities in the question paper after we get the inquiry committee report. We have asked them to file their report at the earliest,” he said.

Meanwhile, Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti (SMSS), the students unit of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) staged protests in Goalpara against the incident.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) senior spokesperson Durgadas Boro demanded resignation of State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma saying that this cannot happen without the knowledge of the minister.
