The overall pass percentage in the Assam Higher Secondary final examinations slightly increased as 80.57 per cent of students who appeared for the board exams passed this year.
The pass percentage in the three streams—Arts, Commerce and Science–witnessed a marginal rise compared to last year.

The overall pass percentage of the Arts stream improved from last year’s 74.68 per cent to 75.14 per cent this year.
A total of 178998 candidates appeared for the examination of which 18575 students passed in first division, 42439 secured second division and 73482 students stood at third division. In 2018 the pass percentage in arts stream was 74.68.
Similarly, in the Commerce stream, the overall pass percentage witnessed an upward trend from 84.64 per cent to this year’s 87.59 per cent.

A total of 17797 candidates appeared in the Commerce stream out of which 3796 secured first division while 5303 passed in second division. The total number of students securing third division stood at 6490.
The pass percentage in Science stream as well improved this year from last year’s 85.74 per cent to 86.59 per cent.
In the Science stream, a total of 36469 candidates appeared, 15864 students secured first division. The number of students securing second and third division stood at 13231 and 2482 respectively.
Flood ravaged Dhemaji district maintained its performance streak in the Arts stream with an overall pass percentage of 89.52 per cent, followed by Darrang with 88.03 per cent and Lakhimpur 87.15 per cent.
Chirang district, with a pass percentage of 56.36 per cent, stood at the bottom of the list.
In the Commerce stream, Nalbari grossed the highest overall pass percentage among all the districts with 97.79 per cent.
It was followed by Dhemaji with 95.60 per cent and Nagaon with 95.14 per cent. The lowest pass percentage in Commerce stream was recorded in Hailakandi district (70.38).
In the Science stream, Sivasagar with an overall pass percentage of 93.42 topped the list among all the districts, followed by Jorhat with 91.24 per cent and Baksa with 92.00 per cent. Here too, Chirang occupied the bottom slot with 71. 93 per cent.
As usual, the girls outperformed boys.
