Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday announced that admissions to all the courses would start at Lakhimpur Medical College Hospital (LMCH), North Lakhimpur from this year.
Sarma made this announcement while visiting the LMCH this evening to inspect the progress of work nearing completion at Chaboti in North Lakhimpur.
“The shifting of indoor patients from the old building of North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital to the new building of LMCH will start from today and hopefully the admissions will start from this year,” Dr Sarma told reporters.
The Chief Minister arrived at North Lakhimpur from Dhemaji after chairing his cabinet meeting and attended a review meeting about the LMCH work progress with officials here.
He also participated in a plantation drive inside the premise of LMCH. The Chief Minister was accompanied by state health minister Keshab Mahanta, Lakhimpur MP Pradan Baruah, Lakhimpur MLA Manab Deka and Dhakuwakhona MLA Naba Kumar Doley.
Chief Minister Dr. Sarma said that the issue of fake gold and counterfeiting currency trade at Bangalmara would be firmly dealt with in the coming days.
He also informed about the cabinet decision for a Rs 108 Crore road project at Maatmora in Dhakuwakhona Sub Division of the Lakhimpur district.
Earlier Chief Minister Sarma arrived at Nowboicha by helicopter en-route to his visit to Dhemaji for the cabinet meeting on Wednesday evening.
He visited the residence of the late Indreswar Bora who had lost his life in the ferry accident at Nimatighat on September 8.
He met his parents and family members and expressed his condolences and assured all possible help.
