Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, who acts as Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the biopic ‘PM Narendra Modi’, attended Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s Majuli programme on Sunday.

Chief minister Sonowal inaugurated ‘Sahodar 2020-21’, a cultural exchange programme of different ethnic communities of the state at Jengraimukh in Majuli district on Sunday.

Sonowal said the Assam government’s Sahodar’ programme immensely contributed in strengthening unity and harmony among various ethnic communities and as a result no incident of ethnic violence took place in the state since 2016.

Speaking on the occasion, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi appreciated chief minister Sonowal for his initiative to make Majuli a carbon-neutral district.

Saying that he was mesmerized by the natural beauty of Majuli, Oberoi observed that the steps taken for maintaining the natural ambience of the island would set an example for the country.

The actor also informed that under I-30 programme which is launched for grooming students for competitive examinations, steps would be taken to open around 30 centres in Assam.

He said a movie in the life of great Ahom general Lachit Borphukan would be made by him with around seventy percent artists from Assam.

“In the serene tea garden of awesome Assam. Soft breeze and captivating smell of tea leaves leave you enamoured,” said Vivek Oberoi in a tweet.

In another tweet, Oberoi said: “Always a great pleasure meeting my dear friend and big bro “Xorbada” the dynamic and extremely dedicated CM of Assam @sarbanandsonwal. It’s awesome to see such an honest, down to earth and simple CM@BjpAssamPradesh.”

Chief minister Sonowal tweeted: “Glad to inaugurate Xohudar 2020-21 with Union MoS Shri @Rameswar_Teli, MP Shri @KamakhyaTasa, noted actor Shri @vivekoberoi at Jengraimukh, Majuli.”

“I express my gratitude to artistes from 39 communities across Assam who graced the event and made it a grand success,” he added.
