Principal of Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (GIPS), Tezpur – Abdul Baqee has rubbished media reports claiming that the institute denied permission to a girl to sit for the entrance test of Assam Agricultural University (AAU) for wearing shorts.
Speaking to Northeast Now, GIPS, Tezpur Principal – Abdul Baqee said that no staffer of the institute was involved in the incident.
He said that the decision to deny the girl to sit for the exam while wearing shorts was taken by the observers from AAU.
“The decision was taken by the observers from the AAU. No staffer from the GIPS was involved in the incident,” Baqee said.

He added: “Our job was only to provide logistical and technical support for the examination.”
The incident took place at the Tezpur campus of the GIPS on Wednesday before the entrance test of AAU.
GIPS, Tezpur was one of the centres, where the entrance test was held.
The girl named Jublee Tamuli has alleged that she was denied permission by to sit for the entrance test for wearing shorts.
She also alleged that she was allowed to sit for the exam only after wrapping herself with curtains.
