A torchlight rally against CAA was taken in Pathsala by the Pathsala unit of AASU after the Centre that the Act came into force from Friday (January 10).
The rally was led by Barpeta AASU general secretary Samudra Patgiri, general secretary Himanshu Sarma and other office-bearers of the student body.
The rally began at the Hari Mandir premises and moved around the Pathsala market where hundreds of locals also participated.
Earlier on the day, AJYCP registered a strong protest against CAA at Bajali.
Hundreds of AJYCP hoisted black flags and burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the union home minister Amit Shah.
The protesters also raised slogans against the Prime Minister, Home Minister, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
