Guwahati-based biodiversity conservation group Aaranyak has provided field gears to 26 personnel of Assam Police’s Rhino Protection Group for protection of rhinos at Kaziranga National Park (KNP).

The organisation in collaboration with Sub-Division Police Office of Bokakhat handed over shoes, raincoats and torch lights to the personnel of Rhino Protection Group at Bokakhat Police Station in Golaghat district on Saturday.

The field gears were handed over in presence of Sub- SDPO Ananta Hazarika and Officer-in-Charge, Pradip Kumar Bora by the Aaranyak team members based around Kaziranga, comprising Arif Hussain, Manager, Rhino Research and Conservation Division, Sanjib Kumar Bezbaruah and Swapan Kumar Nath.

The field equipments were gifted with the support from the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) to aid in conservation of our rich wildlife.

The DSWF has been instrumental in complementing conservation of wildlife in Northeast especially in Assam through Aaranyak and earlier too supported field gears to Village Defence Patrol groups around rhino bearing areas.

“The Rhino Protection groups were provided with shoes, raincoats and torch lights to complement their relentless efforts to protect precious one-horned rhinos in Kaziranga National Park of the state,” Aaranyak said in a statement.
