The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) region committee of All Assam Gorkha Students’ Union (AAGSU) sought the Assam Governor’s intervention into inclusion of nominated six members to the BTC Legislative Assembly.
The students’ union resented that even after three years of the tenure of the present BTC administration, the posts of six nominated members have not been filled till date. A three-member delegation of BTC region committee of AAGSU recently called on Governor Jagdish Mukhi at Raj Bhawan and exhorted him to take initiatives to provide land pattas to the Gorkha people in BTC and also to reserve two BTC seats for Gorkha candidates in BTC.
The delegation comprised Dimbeswar Upadhyaya, adviser, John Chouhan, president, and Rohit Kumar Dahal, the general secretary of BTC region committee, AAGSU.
The delegates also demanded the appointment of Nepali language teachers in the schools where Nepali speaking students are in population of 15 per cent and above.
The Governor assured the delegation of initiating necessary action. Rohit Kumar Dahal, the general secretary of BTC region AAGSU, stated this in a press statement.
