Police on Monday arrested the accused involved in the alleged rape of a 9-year-old girl in western Assam’s Kokrajhar district.

The accused allegedly repeatedly raped the 9-year-old girl in a remote village under Bishmuri police post in Kokrajhar district.

A case (no.387/2021) was registered at Kokrajhar police station under section 376AB R/W section 4 of the POCSO Act. 2005 based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family members.

The victim’s 14-year-old elder sister was found hanging under mysterious circumstances two days after she caught the culprit committing the crime.

Accused Narzary has been absconding since Thursday night whose house is adjacent to the victim’s house in the remote area of Bishmuri.

The girl was produced before the Child Welfare Committee in Kokrajhar on Monday.

The CWC has urged the district administration and state government as well BTC administration to take stern actions against the crimes happening on girls, women, etc in the district.
