Assam on Friday reported 936 fresh covid-19 cases, taking the state’s overall positive cases to 15,536.
Of the new cases, 521 cases were reported from Guwahati city alone.
Assam health minister mimanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Alert ~ 936 new #COVID ve+ cases in Assam, 521 in Guwahati alone. Times are trying, indeed. With vigilance, precautions & care, we shall overcome. Total cases 15536; Recovered 9848; Active cases 5650; Deaths 35 11:55 PM/July 10/ Day’s total 936.”

Along with the surge in coronavirus positive cases, Assam is also witnessing a spike in the number of Covid-related deaths.
On Friday itself, eight deaths were reported from Guwahati. Seven of the deaths took place at Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) while one person died at the Covid care centre opened at Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G).
In the past four days, 21 deaths have taken place, taking the total tally of fatalities to 35.
701 more Covid-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals on Friday, taking the total number of discharged patients to 9,848 in Assam.
