Eight more positive patients died of COVID19 infections in Assam on Tuesday, taking the state’s death toll to 260.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Tuesday said the deceased are from Kamrup Metro, Nalbari, Baksa, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, and Majuli districts.

The COVID19 victims from Kamrup Metro district have been identified as 70-year-old Usha Das & 48-year-old Aparna Roy, and 21-year-old Nayana Das.

The other victims have been identified as 65-year-old Labanya Bhuyan from Nalbari; 55-year-old Masfil Hussain from Baksa; 40-year-old Ajay Kr Gupta from Karbi Anglong; 46-year-old Jhantu Deb from Golaghat and 55-year-old Bishnu Biswas from Majuli.

Assam has so far registered 92,619 COVID19 positive cases.

With the demise of 8 more positive patients, Assam currently has 19,266 active cases.

A total of 73,090 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been discharged from various hospitals or Covid Care Centres across Assam after their recovery.

On Monday, Assam registered a total of 1,879 COVID19 positive cases while a total of 2,190 patients recovered from the disease.
