Eight more positive patients have succumbed to COVID19 infections in Assam on Thursday, taking the state’s death toll to 169.

Sharing the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status said the victims are from Karimganj, Cachar, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur and Bongaigaon districts.

According to health minister Sarma, Dibrugarh district has recorded four COVID19 deaths.

The victims from Dibrugarh have been identified as 47-year-old Anita Biswas, 53-year-old Bipul Saikia, 39-year-old Bholanath Das, and 58-year-old Sofiquddin Laskar.

The other COVID19 victims have been identified as 78-year-old Dhaneshwar Sinha from Karimganj; 53-year-old Biswajit Kar from Cachar; 53-year-old Khogesori Devi from Lakhimpur and 43-year-old Mangal C Ray from Bongaigaon district.

Assam so far has registered 68,999 COVID19 positive cases.

With the demise of 8 more positive patients, Assam currently has 21,618 active cases.

A total of 47,209 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been discharged from various hospitals or Covid Care Centres across Assam after their recovery while 3 cases have migrated from the state.
