6th person dies of COVID19 infection in Assam

Infected person was a cancer patient and was under treatment at Tezpur Medical College Hospital

The sixth person has lost life in Assam due to COVID19 infection.

The infected person, identified as Kamal Krishna Pal, died in Tezpur Medical College Hospital (TMCH) while undergoing treatment.

Pal, who had been suffering from cancer, went to Mumbai for treatment.

He reached Tezpur on May 29 after arriving in the state by a flight.

After his swab sample tested positive for COVID19 on May 31, the infected person was admitted to the Tezpur Medical College Hospital where he died of the infection in the afternoon on Wednesday.

The Tezpur Medical College Hospital authority revealed before media persons that the deceased was a resident of Natunpara under Ward No 13 in Tezpur town under Sonitpur district.

The family members of Pal have taken the responsibility to perform his last rites in the presence of the revenue circle officer and officials from the district administration, the hospital authority said.

Pal’s wife Bharati Pal has also been infected by COVID19, say reports.

There are a total of 1,987 active COVID19 patients who are undergoing treatment in various hospitals across Assam.

Assam has recorded a total of 3,092 COVID19 positive cases so far, out of which 1,092 have been discharged from the hospitals after their recovery.
