Six more positive patients have succumbed to COVID19 infections in Assam on Wednesday, taking the state’s death toll to 161.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s COVID19 status on Wednesday said: “Six #COVID patients have succumbed to their infections.”

Health minister Sarma informed that the COVID19 victims are from Cachar, Karimganj, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh and Kamrup Metro districts.
The COVID19 victims have been identified as 70-year-old Himangshu Dey from Cachar, 49-year-old Debabrata Choudhury from Karimganj, 56-year-old Dhaneswar Sharma from Dhemaji, 53-year-old Biswajit Ghosh & 60-year-old Mahesh Baruah from Dibrugarh, and 58-year-old MI Hussain from Kamrup Metro, Sarma said.
Assam has so far registered a total of 64,406 COVID19 positive cases.

With the death of 6 more positive patients, Assam currently has 19,169 active cases.
A total of 45,073 patients, who were earlier infected by COVID19, have been discharged from various hospitals or Covid Care Centres after their recovery.
In an earlier tweet, health minister Sarma informed that in the last 24 hours, the Team Assam carried out 143,109 COVID19 tests, taking the state’s total test count to 15,73,800.
“Inspired by our prime minister @narendramodi, we have been continuously stepping up our #COVID testing. I am so proud to share that in the last 24 hours, team Assam carried out 143,109 tests. This takes the total test conducted in Assam to a record high of 1573800,” Sarma tweeted.
