Five more COVID19 patients were discharged from hospital in Assam on Monday after their recovery.
All the discharged patients are from the Bongaigaon district.
Announcing this, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the five COVID19 patients from Bongaigaon were admitted to the Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) at Panbazar in Guwahati.
With these five patients, the total number patients discharged from various hospitals across Assam has increased to 39.
Assam has so far registered 64 COVID19 positive cases, which is the second highest number of people infected by the deadly virus in the Northeast.
Tripura is on the top of the list of COVID19 positive cases registered in the Northeast with a total of 151 cases.
Currently, Assam has 22 active COVID19 cases while one of the persons, who tested positive for the virus in Assam, has left for Bihar, health minister Sarma said.
Informing about the discharge of the 5 patients, health minister Sarma tweeted: “Glad to share that 5 #COVID19 patients of Bongaingaon, who were admitted at MMCH, are discharged today. Total discharged patients are 39 now.”
“So far, 64 total cases in Assam, while active cases are 22, as one person who had tested positive here had left for Bihar,” he added.

The deadly disease has claimed the lives of two persons in Assam so far.
According to the Union home ministry website, India has recorded a total of 67,152 COVID19 positive cases so far with 2,206 deaths,
The COVID19 pandemic has so far affected 4.12 million people across the world and claimed 2.83 lakh people.
