In the firing, triggered by security personnel of Aminul Haque Laskar, three persons were injured.

The people who were injured in the firing incident include Hussain Laskar Baharul and Islam Barbhuiya, both residents of Dhonehori Part-I and Akram Hussain Laskar, a constable.

The incident took place at the Dhonehori LP School polling station on the voting day (April 1) in the second phase of the Assam Assembly election.

However, Laskar told media persons that the security personnel had to open fire only to protect his life during a clash between supporters of rival political parties.

The opposition parties have demanded the arrest of Aminul Haque Laskar.

It has been alleged that Laskar himself opened fire first and later his security personnel opened fire. But the deputy speaker has rubbished the allegation against him.

A pistol was recovered from the spot.

According to a media report, Aminul Haque Laskar was summoned by police for interrogation.

Laskar went to Silchar Sadar Police Station on April 4 and was reportedly questioned for more than 2 hours.
