Nalbari: The 48th district session of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha will begin in Nalbari on January 30. The Borzar Sankardev Madhavdev Coordination Centre will host the three-day programme, which will continue till February 1.

Ahead of the formal inauguration, organizers held a public volunteer service at the convention venue. People from all communities, religions, and castes took part in the initiative. Notably, members of Hindu and Muslim communities worked side by side. The effort highlighted Borzarโ€™s long-standing tradition of peace and communal harmony.

Local residents said the collective participation has transformed the coordination centre into a symbol of unity and shared devotion. Meanwhile, preparations have gathered pace. The venue now echoes with naam-kirtan and devotional chants, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere.

The three-day session will include religious discourses, spiritual observances, and cultural programmes. Speaking about the schedule, a member of the organizing committee said the main programmes will take place on January 30, 31, and February 1.

As part of the preparations, organizers conducted the Guru Aakhon Pratistha at the namghar on Wednesday. The ritual marked the spiritual commencement of the district session.

The Srimanta Sankardev Sangha continues to uphold the religious philosophy, cultural values, and social ideals of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev. His teachings promoted equality, devotion, and a casteless, inclusive society. The district session remains a major spiritual and cultural congregation, strengthening democratic and social consciousness rooted in Assamโ€™s rich heritage.
