“As soon as we received the information, we rushed to the Oil field area. Gogoi was sent to the hospital for treatment but doctors declared him brought dead,” said Digboi forest ranger.

Wild elephants started venturing in the Oil field area in search of food.

“We have spotted elephants in the area many a time. Till now, several persons have been killed by elephants in the particular area,” said Bijay Gogoi, a local environmentalist.
