Four more positive patients have died of Covid19 in Assam, taking the state’s death toll to 993 while 97 new positive cases were detected in the state.

Informing about the demise of four more patients due to the Covid19 infection, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Sunday said:  “Sad to share the demise of four #COVID patients today”.

The deceased have been identified as 40-year-old Sahadeb Samanta of Dibrugarh; 50-year-old Anima Kar of Jorhat; 55-year-old Thaneswar Boro of Sonitpur and 65-year-old Pranab Bhattacharjee of Kamrup Metro.

Confirming the detection of the new positive cases, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s Covid19 status on Sunday said the new cases have been detected out of 11,514 tests.

With the detection of 97 new Covid19 cases, the state’s tally increased to 2,13,759.

The positivity rate stands at 0.84%.

“97 Cases detected out of 11514 tests conducted with positivity rate of 0.84%,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

Of the new cases, the Kamrup Metro district has reported 38 cases.

Meanwhile, 84 more Covid19 patients have been discharged after their recovery from the disease.

The percentage of patients, who have recovered from the disease in the state, is 97.87%.

Assam currently has 3,552 active Covid19 cases, which is 1.66% of the total cases registered in the state so far.

The state’s death rate stands at 0.46%.
