Three more positive cases succumbed to Covid19 infection in Assam on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 1,007.

With the detection of 97 new Covid19 cases in the state on Wednesday, the state’s positive tally increased to 2,15,042.

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the state’s Covid19 status said the new cases have been detected out of 22,969 tests.

The state’s positivity rate stands at 0.42%.

“97 Cases detected out of 22969 tests conducted with positivity rate of 0.42%,” health minister Sarma tweeted.

The health minister informed that of the new cases, Kamrup Metro district alone has reported 39 new cases.

Meanwhile, 90 other patients, who were earlier infected by Covid19, have been discharged after their recovery.

The state’s recovery rate stands at 97.88%.

Assam currently has 3,544 active Covid19 cases, which is 1.64% of the total cases registered in the state.

With the demises of 3 more patients, the Covid19 death toll reached 1,007 in Assam.

Confirming the news, health minister Sarma in an earlier tweet on Wednesday said: “Sad to share the demise of three #COVID patients today.”

The deceased have been identified as 68-year-old Bikash Chandra Choudhary of Kamrup Metro, 35-year-old Pradip Deka of Baksa and 3-months-old Saina Dhanuwar of Charaideo district.
