An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 on the Richter Scale jolted Assam at 9:50 am on Monday.

This has been confirmed by the National Center for Seismology (NCS).

This is the second earthquake reported in Assam within 24 hours.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake (Lat: 26.69 & Long: 92.35) occurred at a depth of 24 km.

The epicentre of the earthquake is located at 44 km west of Tezpur in Assam’s Sonitpur district.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:3.8, Occurred on 31-05-2021, 09:50:50 IST, Lat: 26.69 & Long: 92.35, Depth: 24 Km ,Location: 44 km W of Tezpur, Assam,” NCS tweeted.

No damage or casualty has been reported from any part of Assam so far.

On May 30, an earthquake of magnitude 4.1 on the Richter Scale jolted Assam at 2.23 pm.

The NCS on its Twitter handle said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 16 km.

The epicentre of the earthquake (14:23:06 IST, Lat: 26.69 & Long: 92.39) is located 40 km west of Tezpur in Assam’s Sonitpur district, according to the National Center for Seismology.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:4.1, Occurred on 30-05-2021, 14:23:06 IST, Lat: 26.69 & Long: 92.39, Depth: 16 Km, Location: 40km W of Tezpur, Assam, India,” the NCS tweeted.

There were no reports of any damage or casualty caused by the earthquake.

Earthquakes continue to jolt different parts of Northeast India for the last several months.

On May 29, 2021, an earthquake of magnitude 3.5 had shaken Meghalaya at 1:29 am.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake (Lat: 25.57 & Long: 91.78) occurred at a depth of 10 Km.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located 11 km west of Shillong.

On May 23, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 had shaken Manipur at 6:56 am.

According to NCS, the earthquake (Lat: 24.79 & Long: 94.94) occurred at a depth of 109 Km.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located 49 km east-south-east of Ukhrul in Manipur.

On May 19, 2021, an earthquake of magnitude 3.2 jolted Assam at 5:55 pm.

The NCS informed that the earthquake (Lat: 26.22 N & Long: 91.47 E) occurred at a depth of 30 Km.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located in Kamrup.
