Assam reported 28 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday afternoon, taking the total number of cases in the state to 1,513, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Of the 28 cases, 12 are from Nagaon, 10 from Golaghat, one from Jorhat and five from Guwahati Airport.
Assam currently has 1, 222 active patients. A total of 284 people have recovered, four succumbed to the disease, and three others have migrated.
The state had been witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases since travel restrictions were lifted on May 4.
Assam registered a total of 124 COVID-19 positive cases on Monday.
As many as 40 patients were discharged from various hospitals during the day after they recovered from COVID-19, Sarma said.
The minister said of the 40 patients, 12 were discharged from Golaghat district hospitals, 13 from Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH), nine from MMCH and one from Dhemaji.
“Glad to share that 40 more patients have been discharged today after they tested negative for #COVID19 twice DH Golaghat 12; SMCH 18; MMCH 9; DH Dhemaji 1,” Sarma tweeted.
