At least 25 passengers sustained injuries while an Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) bus skidded off the National Highway 15 at Jia Bhorali under Chariduar police station of Sonitpur district in the wee hours of Thursday.
The bus bearing registration number AS 20-16/16 was travelling from Guwahati to Lakhimjpur.
Witnesses said that the bus was overcrowded with passengers.
Police sources said that the passengers were immediately shifted to North Jamuguri 30-beaded hospital and later referred to Tezpur Medical College Hospital and Kanaklata Civil Hospital.
Out of injured passengers, the conditions of four passengers were stated to be critical.
They are presently undergoing treatment at Tezpur Medical College Hospital at Tumuki.
