The whereabouts of a missing forest guard is still not found even after he went missing around 22 months back in Sivasagar district of Assam.

The missing forest guard is one Nagina Mala, aged around 54 years hailing from Dihingmukh lason village under Nitaipukhuri police outpost that comes under Dimow police station of Sivasagar district of Assam.

The hapless family that has been waiting patiently for the last 22 months is slowly giving up hope and passing time in utter helplessness.

Notably, the forest guard who was an employee of Khuwang forest sub-division in Dibrugarh district went missing on June 6 in the year 2016 when he left his residence for his place of posting.

Assam Police could not find any lead of the missing forest guard during the last 22 months.

Locals have also alleged that no official from the State Forest Department found time to enquire about the family even after almost two years of Nagina Mala’s disappearance.

To make things worse, the department had also stopped the monthly salary of the forest guard making it miserable for the family to meet their daily needs.

Now the family of the missing forest guard are meeting their both ends by working as daily wage labourer.

It may be recalled that the family had lodged a missing complaint and a case (Case no.127/20/16 W S 365 IPC) was also registered at the Dimou police station.

Though the police recovered the mobile phone from Saoulkhowa area of Dibrugarh district, the investigation was mysteriously wrapped by arresting one person.

Now the family of Nagina Mala’s family has made a renewed appeal to the new State Forest Minister Parimal Shuklabaidya and Assam Police to inquire into the whereabouts of Mala.
