Dhubri Police on Tuesday arrested two accused involved in a murder case registered at Latashil police station in Guwahati.

The arrested youths have been identified as 33-year-old Rupam Das and his brother 34-year-old Rajib Das, sons of Ganesh Das, a resident of Kharghuli under Latashil police station.

They were allegedly involved in the murder of one Nizamuddin Ali, a resident of Uzan Bazar in Guwahati.

Nizamuddin sustained serious injuries during a clash that occurred with the duo at Uzan Bazar in Guwahati on September 13.

Seriously-injured Nizamuddin was admitted to Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati but he died at the hospital on September 18.

A case (no 263/2020 U/S 341/325/307) was registered after the victim’s family lodged an FIR at Latashil police station on September 16 in connection with the murder.

According to Dhubri Police, the wanted duo has been arrested during a man-hunt launched under the Dharmasala police outpost.

The police arrested the accused at around 12.15 am on Tuesday.

Trinayan  Bhuyan, deputy superintendent of police (headquarter), Dhubri, who led the operation said, “Police received the Call Details Report (CDR) of the alleged accused and one contact was detected in Dhubri.”

“Although the accused kept their mobile phones switched off, we worked in the line of the profile of the accused. Finally, the clue led us to reach the persons in Dhubri with whom the accused were in contact, and finally, we were able to arrest the accused,” said Bhuyan.

The police officer also informed that the car, which the accused used to flee from Guwahati, has also been seized by the police.
