Thirteen more positive patients have succumbed to COVID19 infection in Assam on Saturday, taking the stateโ€™s death toll to 638.

Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in his latest tweet on the stateโ€™s COVID19 status on Saturday said:  โ€œVery sad and anguished to inform that 13 more COVID positive patients have succumbed to the disease.โ€

The COVID19 victims have been identified as Biren Bora (66) and Sorukon Saikia (75) of Jorhat; Rajib Ahmed (48) and Gandheswar Borah (76) of Sivasagar; Saroda Chetia (30) of Dhemaji; Dhritiman Paul (48) of Hojai; Baishakhi Kalindi (65), Arnal Jyoti Bora (52) and Karna Tanti (73) of Golaghat.

The other COVID19 victims have been identified as Ranjit Saikia (65) of Udalguri; Agabi Soren 155) of Sonitpur; Rajani Borah (60) of Nagaon and Samim Khaled (43) of Karirnganj.

โ€œMy condolences to all the families. We stand by you in this hour of grief,โ€ the health minister said.

On Friday, Assam recorded 1,792 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the stateโ€™s overall tally to 1,67,374.

A total of 1,571 patients were discharged after recovery in the state on Friday.

A total of 17 patients died of COVID19 infection in Assam on Friday, taking the stateโ€™s death toll to 625.
