A 12-year-old boy drowns in Buridehing river at Jokai Khamtighat area in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh on Thursday.
A missing complaint has been filed at Milan Nagar Police outpost in Dibrugarh.
Locals said the boy, identified as Ayushman Dowerah of Chowkidinghee, was last seen at Jokai Khamtighat area with his bicycle.

Local resident said that the boy went for swimming at around 4 pm at Buridehing river and went missing after that.

The bicycle of the boy and his sleepers were found near the Buridehing river on Thursday.

The SDRF and NDRF team has been carrying out search operations in the Buridehing river.
Sources said the boy quarreled with one of his neighbours on Thursday afternoon after that he had taken Rs 500 from his father’s saving and went out with his bicycle.
The locals of Khamtighat area suspected that the boy was swept away by the current in the river.
“Right now we can’t say anything as search operation has been going on. NDRF and SDRF have been carrying out the search operation,” said a police official.
