Sensation prevailed at Pathsala in Bajali of Barpeta district in Assam following the incident of suicide of a student.
A 17-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at Dr Bhupen Hazarika Boys hostel of Anandaram Baruah Academy of Pathsala in Barpeta district.
The deceased has been identified as Ashyut Das, son of Nipon Das and Anjana Das of Chandrapur, Guwahati.
The victim was a student of higher secondary final year science steam.
As per reports, on Monday afternoon when the hostel warden found no response from the room, he knocked at the door.
But there was no any response from the room. Then he immediately broke open the door and he saw that the boy was hanging from the ceiling fan.
Then he immediately informed the college authorities and police.
Police arrived at the hostel immediately and the body was brought to Pathsala outpost, sources said.
On Tuesday, the victim’s family members filed an FIR at Patacharkuchi police station against the warden of the hostel.
They alleged that the warden of the hostel has been harassing the student.
And for that reason the victim wanted to leave the hostel.
On August 12, the victim informed his mother that he was beaten by the hostel warden.
The family members of the youth have demanded proper inquiry into the incident.
Meanwhile, the body of the victim has been sent for post-mortem at Fakharuddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital in Barpeta and investigation is going on, police said.
