North Lakhimpur: A young girl who was abducted and trafficked was rescued from her captors inside Arunachal Pradesh by Lakhimpur Police.

This was stated by Lakhimpur Superintendent of Police Aparna Natarajan on Sunday.

The eleven-year-old girl was rescued from the Kurung Kumey district bordering China and two of her abductors who had sold her were arrested along with the vehicle used in the abduction.

On May 4, an 11-year-old girl from Bhimpora in Bogeenadi was kidnapped on her way to Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital with her grandmother.

The girl and her grandmother were taken in a car as they waited for a bus from Bogeenadi to LMCH in North Lakhimpur.

The vehicle took them to Upper Jumi in Arunachal Pradesh instead.

The grandmother was thrown out from the vehicle on the Assam Arunachal Pradesh boundary before it entered Kimin with the girl.

The complaint by her grandmother prompted police here to conduct a rescue operation.

SP Natarajan also informed that a 14-year-old girl reported missing from Narayanpur in 2023 and an eight-year-old boy from Silanibari missing since 2021 were rescued from Daporijo and Naharlagan respectively by Lakhimpur Police.
