The incident of rice stolen from a school meant for mid-day meal in Majuli, the river island district of Assam, has raised quite a few eyebrows among the locals.
The incident took place at the No 206 Rajguru Bari Primary School when miscreants broke open the lock and had stolen the rice meant for the mid-day meal of the students.
Miscreants looted around two quintals of rice from the headmaster’s office room by breaking open the lock on Thursday night.
When the matter came to light on Friday morning, a complaint has been lodged at the Kamalabari police station by the school authorities.
Meanwhile, the incident has created sensation among the locals of the region.
Though the district administration has been taking strict measure to check theft of rice meant for mid-day meal from school premises in the district, no arrests have been made so far.
