A day after an elderly woman was robbed off cash after being attacked on her inside her residence in Jorhat, thieves burgled the office of a tax consultant in the twon on Saturday night.
Thieves broke into the office of Gajendra Rathi and took away two laptops at Digambarchook here.
Rathi has lodged a complaint in this regard at the Jorhat police station.
Incidents of thefts in shops, snatching of bags containing money, have escalated in Jorhat in the past two months with one or the other occurring at frequent intervals.
In the past few months there has been a rise in incidents of thefts in shops, lifting of vehicles by hooded robbers.
Incidents of snatching bags containing cash and also mobile handsets from pedestrians by motorbike-borne youths in and around the town are also rising.
