Assamโ€™s sprint queen Hima Das has been selected as a part of Indiaโ€™s Women 4ร—400 metre relay team for the 2019 International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Relays.

The event will be held from May 12 to May 13 in Yokohama in Japan.

Apart from Hima, the other three women to have been selected for the womenโ€™s team include M R Poovamma, V K Vismaya, Saritaben Gayakwad, Prachi and Sonia Baishya.

For the World Relays, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has now named the same Menโ€™s and Womenโ€™s 4x400m relay teams which featured in the Asian Championships.

Hima, popularly known as โ€˜ Dhing Expressโ€™ had been pulled out halfway through womenโ€™s 400m semi-finals due to lower back pain at the  23rd Asian Athletics Championships held at the Khalifa International Stadium at Doha in Qatar.

Initially, Hima was ruled out of the Womenโ€™s 4x400m relay and Mixed 4x400m relay races.

However, the track queen has later been selected as a part of the womenโ€™s 4ร—400 metre relay team.

Nineteen-year-old Hima Das who hails from a village near Dhing in Nagaon district of Assam hogged the limelight in 2018 as she won a 400m gold at the World U20 Championships at Tampere in Finland.
