In a bid to boost infrastructure of Charaideo district, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid foundation stone of an RCC bridge over river Dichang at Khutughat to be constructed with an expenditure of Rs. 11.69 crore along with a number of other development projects.
The other projects include construction of an auditorium at Borhat under untied fund with an amount of Rs. 2.20 crore and improvement of 6 play grounds with an expenditure of Rs. 1.20 crore under Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana.
In the same programme, Chief Minister Sonowal ceremonially distributed free LED bulbs to 1,800 beneficiaries under Mukhyamantrir Akhashdeep Yojana and Smart phones to 933 Line Sardars of the Tea Gardens of Sonari LAC.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal said that the government should have a broader vision for development of all sections of the people and work with the sense of public service.
He said that the present state government during last two and a half years has worked in the greater interest of the people of the state without any discrimination and parochial attitude.
Further emphasising the need for better relations between government and public, the Assam CM said that steps taken with positive mindset always benefit the society.
Stating this the Chief Minister said that the union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always given priority to public interest and development of the country which is being reflected in the growth narrative of the nation.
Sonowal in this regard underlined the importance of education to develop the youth as potential human resource.
He said that keeping this in mind the state government has made adequate allocation of fund in the state budget to strengthen academic infrastructure as well as various steps are also being taken to ensure education for all.
Moreover, highlighting the importance of hard work, sincerity and dedication for achieving success in life, Chief Minister Sonowal urged the students to acquaint themselves with the glorious history of the country and the state.
He also emphasised on the need to induce moral and spiritual values amongst students and urged parents and teachers to play an important role in this regard.
Sonowal also spoke about various initiatives being carried out for benefiting different sections of the society in the state. He also announced financial aid of Rs. 50 lakh for infrastructure development of Borhat Higher Secondary School.
Minister of State for Power (i/c) Topon Kumar Gogoi and MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa also delivered speech on the occasion.
MLA Jogen Mohan, Vice Chairman of OBC Board Krishnamoni Chutia, Chairperson of Zila Parisad and Municipal Board, Deputy Commissioner Debananda Handique and a host of other dignitaries were present in the programme.
