The Sivasagar district administration has pulled up its sleeves against those dhabas and restaurants across the eastern Assam district that are running illegal sell of liquor without valid licence.
This was stated by Sivasagar district Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha at a meeting held at the Sukaphaa conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Sivasagar on Friday.

Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner held the meeting with the owners and proprietors of dhabas and restaurants of the district to assess the functioning of these dhabas and restaurants.
Notably, the district administration has been conducting several operations against illegal sale of liquor in dhabas and restaurants across the Sivasagar district in collaboration with the Revenue and Police departments.
In Friday’s meeting, the Deputy Commissioner urged the owners and proprietors of the dhabas and restaurants across the district to refrain from selling liquor without valid license keeping in view their social responsibility.

He also said that despite repeated appeals, if the owners and proprietors of these dhabas and restaurants continue to sell liquor illegally then the district administration would be compelled to take stern action against the defaulters.
Deputy Commissioner Jha also said that proper legal action as per the Excise law would be taken against these dhabas and restaurants selling liquor illegally.
