In a sensational incident, a body of a youth was recovered floating on the Brahamaputra River near the newly inaugurated Bogibeel Bridge on Wednesday.
The body was later identified as that of Gaurav Kumar Deori Bharali (32), son of Dr Debo Kumar Deori Bharali of Lakhimpur district.

According to police, on December 30 last year, Gaurav visited Bogibeel Bridge and after that he went to Bogibeel festival at the North bank side of Dhemaji.

Since then he was missing. A missing report was also lodged at Bogibeel police outpost.

“We recovered his floating body from the river on Wednesday. Right now we cannot ascertain anything. We have sent his body for post mortem to Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh,” a police official said.
Gaurav was the resident of Phanindra road of Lakhimpur district.
In another incident a Titabor youth, Munna Thakur (30) went to see the Bogibeel Bridge on December 31 last with his friend Imdad and went missing.
A missing report was registered at the police station. Imdad reached home, but Munna is still missing.
Titabor police interrogated Imdad and found Munna’s cap and shawl from his possession. On the other hand, Imdad said he left Munna in the bridge as he was drunk.
“Munna drank heavily on that day and hence he couldn’t come with me. I left him and came home alone,” said Imdad.
Police is investigating the matter but could not trace the whereabouts of Munna Thakur.
On the other hand, Munna’s mother Manju Devi said she is trying Munna’s phone but it was switched off. “I don’t know anything, I want my son back at home,” she said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inagurated the Bogibeel Bridge on December 25 last and from then large number of tourists have been visiting the natio’s longest rail cum road bridge.
