Noted actor Barsha Rani Bishaya graced the scholarship distribution programme of Omprakash Pramila Devi Memorial charitable trust at Lanka in Assam’s Hojai district on Sunday evening.
Speaking as the chief guest of the programme, the accomplished actor said, ‘to bring change in society, first we need to change ourselves.’
Barsha Rani lauded the efforts of the trust for providing financial aid to meritorious students since last four years.
She said,” Education is the only source by which society can be uplifted, so every individual who can afford should atleast help one student who is deprived of education due to financial crisis.”

Hojai legislator Shiladitya Dev, deputy commissioner of Hojai district Tanmoy Pratim Borgohain, superintendent of police Ankur Jain, former minister Haji Abdul Rouf, former MLA of Hojai and noted physician Dr Aditya Langthasa and many eminent guests graced the occasion and shared their valuable experience with present audience.
Chairman cum managing trustee of the trust, Rohit Agrawalla briefly shared the objective behind this noble cause for the society.
A total of 16 schorlarships were presented to the needy and merititorious students of Lanka circle who passed the marticulation examination 2019 to pursue higher secondary course.
Award included cash of Rs 10,000 or admission fees, books, uniform; etc whichever is lower.
This year six scholarship of last year were also renewed.
Late Om Prakash Agarwalla Excellence Award was awarded to Sagnik Banik, who secured 10th position in matriculation from Hojai’s Don Bosco High School and Late Pramila Devi Agarwalla Exellence Award was awarded to Sougata Sarkar of Don Bosco High School, Lumding.
They were felicitated with cash award of Rs 11,000, a memento and some other gifts.
Notably this year, the Trust also felicitated with cash award to two differently abled students of Hojai district namely Jagnat Das of Lumding and Neha Das of Hojai.
