Assam filmmaker Rima Das on Saturday expressed her wish of coming out with a second edition of the film Village Rockstars soon due to its huge global popularity.

While interacting with people in a function organized by Chaygaon Artists Society, Rima answered various questions about her films.

She said that Village Rockstars was late in being selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars because the country gets to know about many things quite late as compared to other countries.

The filmmaker also said that the fund of Rs one crore which was provided to her by the state government after Village Rockstars got selected for the Oscar race was not quite sufficient.

Rima also said that she was lucky that her film got selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars.

She added that by the time she had started competing for the Oscars, many of the films that had been selected for the prestigious award had already reached a much advanced stage.

The filmmaker also mentioned about the lack of time as another factor in being out of the Oscar race.

Rima also added that in addition to providing entertainment, she makes her films in order to portray various issues and happenings in the society.

She informed that her film Bulbul Can Sing will be out in theatres in August.

The filmmaker also informed that the state government had provided financial assistance to her in making the film Purno Chandra.
