The Phek battalion of Assam Rifles has apprehended six cadres in an operation at Meluri town in Nagaland. The six apprehended cadre include two NSCN-K and four NSCN-KN members. They were apprehended from a house at Meluri along with arms and ammunition.
The apprehended militants were the self-styled Lt. Colonel and self-styled captain of NSCN-K while others were self-styled Lieutenant, self-styled sergeant and self-styled Lt Colonel of NSCN-KN. One carbine machine gun, two pistols, ammunition of various calibers, one hand grenade along with incriminating documents were recovered from their possession.
Spasmo proxyvon tablets and uniform were also recovered from them. The militants were involved in extortion in that locality. They were later handed to Phek police station
Meanwhile the Mokokchung battalion of Assam Rifles apprehended one individual at Tamlu village in Nagaland with.22 mm country made pistol, empty cartridges, 16 barrels of country made rifles and a butt of 12 bore gun. The apprehended person has been identified as Chinglong Phom. He was later handed over to Tulip police station.
