The Assam Rifles personnel on Thursday recovered a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from a place along the Indo-Myanmar border at Moreh in Manipur.
According to reports, a team of 43 Battalion of the Assam Rifles detected the IED near Sunrise Ground at Moreh along the international border with Myanmar.

The EID was retrieved by the Assam Rifles team and kept it in an isolated place.
A bomb squad of the Army rushed to dispose the IED weighing 2 kg.
Media reports quoted a top Assam Rifles official as saying that the IED was detected following an operation carried out by 43 Battalion of Assam Rifles at Moreh along the Indo-Myanmar border on the basis of some specific information on transportation of the IED.

Media reports quoted the Assam Rifles official as saying, “A team deployed at near Sunrise Ground spotted a person carrying Submersible Water Pump (commonly known as Tuluu) on a Myanmar motorbike Kenbo towards Moreh from Myanmar side.”
“When the Assam Rifles team signaled the Kenbo bike to stop for frisking and checking, the person threw away the pump and sped away towards Myanmar side.”
“Later the Submersible Water Pump was found containing suspected IED. The Assam Rifles team retrieved the suspected IED and kept it at isolated place,” the AR official reportedly said.
Earlier, on September 23, an Assam Rifles battalion along with Moreh Police recovered two AK-56 refiles and 45 live rounds of ammunition from a place along the Indo-Myanmar border.
Informing this, the Assam Rifles on their Twitter handle stated, “During Border Area patrolling at Indo-Myanmar border on 23 Sep, an #AssamRifles battalion along with a team of Moreh Police recovered two AK-56 Rifles, 45 live rounds & other war like stores.”
“The recovered items were handed over to Moreh Police Station for further investigation,” the AR tweeted.
