To mark the traditional Manipur festival of Ningol Chakkouba, Tulihal Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) celebrated the Ningol Chakkouba festival with local women at Tulihal and Mayang Imphal Company Operating Base on Friday.
It was an initiative to acknowledge the efforts of the local Manipuri women for their important role in fostering peace and unity between all communities in the State along with the security forces.
It may be mentioned that Ningol Chakkouba was celebrated across the State on Friday where unmarried and married sisters were invited for grand feasts at their parental home and presented gifts. In return, the sisters also blessed their brothers for a prosperous life, stated Assam Rifles.
A total of 40 Meira Paibis and ladies of various villages in the area attended the function and honoured the invitation extended by the battalion, says PRO, Assam Rifles (south) in a press release.
The celebrations included interaction with women and also presentation of gifts & sweets to all the women including Meira Paibis followed by tea and refreshments. The efforts of the Battalion for acknowledging and participating in traditional festival was reportedly appreciated.
In another development, Mantripukhri Battalion of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) conducted a security coordination meeting at Hanuman Top Company Operating Base on Saturday, the release added.
The event was attended by village secretaries, village headman, Meira Paibis and Youth club members along with representative of Border Security force from Damodar post.
Various issues pertaining to security and maintenance of peace and harmony in the area were discussed during the meeting, it claimed. Future action plan in respect of civic action projects like medical camps were also discussed.
