Prasanta Baruah of Bhuktabari village under Sipajhar Development Block bagged the first position in the district level declamation contest-2018 organised by the Darrang district office of Nehru Yuva Kendra.

Nehru Yuva Kendra is an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The contest was organised at Paschim Mangaldai Kristi Bikash Kendra on Saturday.

The topic of the contest was ‘Patriotism and Nation Building’ in either English or Hindi language befitting the celebration of the forth coming Republic Day.

By virtue of this win, Prasanta now will represent the district in the State level contest to be followed by the National level competition in New Delhi.

Prasanta was awarded with the certificate along with a cash prize of Rs 5,000.

On the other hand, Smriti Rekha Saikia of Potalsingpara village under Paschim Mangaldai Development Block and Sheikh Farid Ahmed of Ojagaon under Dalgaon-Sialmari Development Block have been adjudged as the second and third best contestants respectively.

Major Harimon Deka, in-charge Professor of NCC Mangaldai College, prominent young social activist Ripunjay Saikia and district coordinator of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Darrang, Promotesh Chakravarty gave away the awards to the winners after the contest.
