Assam Power Minister Pallab Lochan Das on Tuesday called on Minister of Economic Affairs, Bhutan Lyonpo Lekey Dorji and invited him to Assam to the upcoming “Advantage Assam: Assam Global Investors’ Summit” to be held in February next year.

During a 2-day tour to Bhutan, Minister Das along with Principal Secretary to Power department Jishnu Baruah and Deputy Secretary, SEED, Industries and Commerce Department Mridul Kumar Das held discussion with the Bhutan Minister on the possible areas where Bhutan and Assam can associate in the long run.

The delegation led by the Assam Power Minister also interacted with Chimmy Pem, Director, Tourism Council of Bhutam and Phub Zam, President, Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).

Assam is all set to host its first edition of the Global Investors’ Summit in February, 2018 to showcase its business opportunities highlighting the geostrategic advantages to foreign and domestic investors.

The mega event Advantage Assam: Global Investors’ Summit- 2018 which is scheduled to be held on February 3-4 next year in Guwahati, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is expected to see the attendance of business tycoons from across India and other parts of the world.

The summit will showcase the manufacturing prowess and the opportunities offered by Assam in terms of export-oriented manufacturing and services to growing economies like BBIN and ASEAN and other South East Asian countries, and important neighbouring countries like Bhutan. Several ministerial delegations from Assam are visiting various important countries.
