After getting tip-off information regarding his involvement in the illegal coal business, a police team from Margherita police station launched an operation and recovered Rs 2.99 crore from the residence of Ron Lungsang.

The businessman is suspected of being involved in the death of three coal workers who were buried alive in the illegal coal mine of Lidu Tikok West Mining.

Meanwhile, police have launched a massive manhunt to nab Ron Lungsang.

Sources said Ron Lungsang has been operating many rat-hole mines in the Patkai hills and engaged poor labourers to work in the illegal coal mines.

On Sunday, three coal miners identified as Dawa Sherpa, a native of Nepal and two workers from Meghalaya, John and Fenaal were trapped inside the rat hole mine while they were inside.

The incident took place at around 12.30 am when the rat hole mine caved in due to a sudden landslide.
