Assam police detains Mumbai builder; feigns illness

A Mumbai court recently directed Assam Police to produce Mumbai based builder Samir Bhojwani before it on Monday in connection with an assault and possession of illegal weapon case registered against him.

As per reports, an Assam Police team had arrived in Mumbai with a warrant from Hojai JFMC in order to arrest Bhojwani who was accused of providing illegal weapons to three persons to attack a man owning a plot in Malad, a suburban area of North Mumbai.

The man who was attacked by the three miscreants in Assam later filed a complaint with the Assam Police.

The trio on having been arrested by the Assam Police later revealed during interrogation that Bhojwani had provided them with weapons for attacking the Malad based man.

Assam Police arrested and brought Bhojwani to Bandra police station on Tuesday.

However, the builder later started complaining of chest pain and hypertension following which he was admitted to Cooper hospital in Mumbai.

Assam Police on Wednesday filed a plea at an Andheri court seeking sanction for detention of Bhojwani at hospital.

After going through the medical reports of the builder, the court directed Assam Police to detain him at the hospital.

The court also asked the police to produce the builder before it on Monday if his health condition improved.

Bhojwani had earlier been accused of trying to grab the Pali Hill property of actor Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu.

He was accused of forging documents of the star couple’s expensive bungalow in Pali Hill and registering it in the name of some other person.
