Guwahati: Gitika Talukdar has received official accreditation from FIFA to cover the 2026 FIFA World Cup, making it her third straight assignment at the men’s football World Cup.
With this recognition, Talukdar has emerged as the only woman photojournalist from India to be included in the Indian media delegation for the prestigious international football event.
Over the years, she has established a strong reputation in global sports journalism, representing Northeast India and the South Asian media community at several major international sporting events.
Her previous assignments include coverage of the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups, the 2019 and 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cups, as well as the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and Paris Olympics 2024.
Her continued selection by FIFA is being regarded as a significant acknowledgment of her work and dedication in the field of sports photography and international football coverage.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The tournament is expected to be the largest edition in FIFA World Cup history, with participation from 48 national teams and expanded international media coverage.
