People’s Democratic Council (PDCK) of Karbi Longri in Assam through a message to media houses on Tuesday has criticized the Indian Army as carrying out propaganda in the name of ‘Operation Sadbhavna’ to earn cheap popularity.

“They organize essay competitions and painting competitions, distribute solar lamps and provide desks and benches, and many more things to schools and villages.

“But, on the contrary, in the name of launching military operation against PDCK, the same hypocritical Indian Army and Assam Police have been intimidating and harassing the innocent family members and relatives of PDCK members and innocent and destitute Karbi villagers of different parts of Karbi Longri for the last some months,” the release stated.

“The most glaring example of such atrocities are the 19 villages of Donghap area of Dokmoka in Karbi nglong. These criminal activities of Indian army have proved beyond any doubt that they don’t have respect for their own law and they are still continuing to harbor criminal mentality in their mind as before,” the release added.

“So ‘Operation Sadbhavna’ campaign turns itself into a laughing stock among the Karbis. We, the PDCK, strongly condemn the Indian Army for perpetrating such vicious acts in our land.

“We would like to appeal to the Government of India to respect rule of law and to quit Karbi Longri graciously. We don’t want Indian invasion in our land.

“What we want is good relation with India. The people of Karbi Longri will be happy to become the best friend of the Indian nation,” the press release of PDCK further stated.
